What kind of counseling services does Reed Therapy offer?

Reed Therapy offers individual psychotherapy sessions for adults residing in California and Nevada via secure, HIPAA-compliant, telehealth video software. Dr. Garrett takes a holistic approach to treatment, primarily through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Treatment may focus on concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity development, stress management, executive functioning, and overall emotional well-being. The goal of therapy is to help clients develop practical skills, increase psychological flexibility, deepen self-understanding, and build a meaningful life that aligns with their values.

What can I expect during my first counseling session with Reed therapy?

During your first session with Reed Therapy, you and Dr. Garrett will talk about what motivated you to seek counseling and briefly discuss any relevant personal history that may help provide context for your current concerns. During this session, you may also explore goals, what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process, and come to a mutual understanding of the challenges you are navigating. Dr. Garrett will review your completed paperwork, explain confidentiality and limits, and address any questions you have.

How long does a counseling session with Reed Therapy last?

A counseling session with Reed Therapy lasts for 50 minutes, although session length may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences.

How do I get started with therapy?

The best way is to reach out and schedule a consultation.

Does Reed Therapy accept insurance?

Currently, Reed Therapy does not accept insurance for therapy services. Upon request, Dr. Garrett can provide a superbill which you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. His cash rate is $285.00 per hour.

Is counseling confidential?

Counseling with Reed Therapy is 100% confidential. Session notes and patient data is secured by HIPAA compliant file storage. Dr. Garrett is considered a mandatory reporter for abuse and violence cases, in accordance with California and Nevada state and federal law.

How do I know if counseling is right for me?

While everyone can benefit from having an objective person to talk to, finding a good fit with a counselor is one of the key elements of success for a therapeutic relationship. If you are considering therapy, Dr. Garrett offers an initial 15 minute consultation at no charge or obligation.
